Lovers Desire.......
Totally Optional Prompt for this week was to take a quotation and write
a poem about it.
From "The Amber Spyglass" the third in a trilogy by Philip Pullman
The quotation is from "The Third Elegy" by Rainer Maria Rilke
"O stars isn't it from the lovers desire for the face
of his beloved arises
Doesn't his secret insight into her pure feathers come from
the pure constellations"
As the stars fill the heavens above
His heart seeks what he cannot have___
The perfection of her soft skin, her face
The love that lies in her eyes, yet not for him
Beauty has molded time, radiant in starlight she shines
Pale as the virgin moon she walks through the night streets
Surely what secrets she endures, her pure glorious feathers
Come, from the constellations, a gift.... not meant for mankind

I love the accompanying graphic. And this phrase is my favorite:
'Surely what secrets she endures'
The final lines are fantastic!!! Keep writing!!!
Lovely. This mystical feel is so like a lover's thoughts ... pale as a virgin moon offers a vivid image.
Gorgeous poetry, the timelessness of the piece...phew!
