Empty Words.

she hung her head in sorrow
his callous words wounded so
she could not remember his kindness
as the newness of their love once was

talk, he talked on and on
so persistent in his tone so cruel
where was that love they had made
where were his once sweet kisses
washed away with the flux of her tears

now as he stood waiting for her answer
blinded by tears, she could not speak
where once promises of tender love
now remained his indifference

once whispered words of love forever
once gentle caresses folded around her
now seemed to interfere with his wants
they were not hers, his empty callous words

Very tough BD, because she still has love for him. I think I wouldn't have that love very long at all.

My song, borrowed from the Eagles:
But me, I'm already gone
And I'm feelin' strong
I will sing vict'ry song
'cause I'm already gone
Yes, I'm already gone
And I'm feelin' strong
I will sing this vict'ry song
'cause I'm already gone
Yes, I'm already gone
Already gone
All right, nighty-night

Been there, done that.
But I still cried.
And cried some more.

It's a sad world.

very tentative...to only talk about his words...still simple and to the heart.

Words can really be empty sometimes, can't they? Lovely poem, thanks for sharing.

No one, no person, no animal should be treated this way.I'm angry at his persistent treatment of her, at the jail she is locked into, at the Cold quarters she's "living in. I bristle and Cry reading "interfere with his wants" as if she is a thing, as if she could prevent Circumstances she Cannot Control. Yes, "empty Callous words", a cruelty I Cannot Condone. (I purposefully Capitalized these C' and notice I did not capitalize the "c" in could.)

Hi Beloved Dreamer,

I love your poetic style. The emotions expressed in this piece are both beautiful and raw at the same time.

Take care my poetic friend.

Sweet Jim, me too. Been there done that. I know this song well. When I was in College, at St Johns I work for the newspaper. We got to go to all the concerts free and go backstage. I remember The Eagles well. Wasn't it a great time for life an music? Too bad we are older now but... wiser, No? Indeed it is a sad world. I live without the love I once had so long ago.

I very much liked this. The way you've written this captures heartache that many of us have faced at one point or another in our lives. Good work.
