When Angels.......Come Calling

angels come calling
exquisite in shape and face___
serene mystical.... not born of this earth
not formed of dust ashes...
sentenced to death decay

gently, they glide down a stairway
clouds of rainbow mists
reflecting heavens promise
in blinding....white radiance
gift of the ages

yet, mortal are we
chained to ordinary existence
tho given an unearthly spirit
unable to rise up
still thirst crave....their shimmering purity

man marked, the sign upon his forehead
burned deep, ever shadowed by sin and despair....
wait,hungrily____bowed with time
wait, in repentance forgiveness____
and sin again....an endless circle

and thus is man's nature
till, he who reigns over death
allows us at last to quietly....slip away
in sorrow and loss____
into the grateful earth....passing heavens gate to be free

this was a perfect poem of lamentation... i feel that it expresses my disbelief that any being of a supreme nature,, would create us,, just to watch us die...

so very well done.....

The yearning of the human spirit to be something more than we are is so well written of in this poem. When I saw the prompt this week, I immediately thought of angels but couldn't come up with a poem. This is lovely.

Rainbow mists... I just love this. My sister and I were just discussing the miracle and promise of the rainbow. Beautifully done.
