how does it begin
a shy half smile
a quick glance
hearts quicken
beating as one
longing yet afraid
our chance encounter
sweet expectation
one brief moment
we turn away
breath stills eyes shift
the song has changed

Love this one and the final line is superb!
Sue, thanks so much for once again reading my work. It's so hard for me to keep up. I don't know what to do about it. I think my poetry is suffering for it. I don't know how you do it. Write all those wonderful poems that you do. Life seem to step in and take me away.

You have captured so well, so wistfully, the feelings one would experience during a chance encounter. I understand completely, by the way, how hard it can be to find time to write. But don't give up, that would be a waste!
Like passing ships... I always wonder what might have happened next?
A situation perfectly described.
This is so accurate, as well as perfectly written!
